Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart” (Ephesians 6:6)

The duty of a servant is summed up in the word: obedience. We need to reverence those in authority over us. Be sincere in obedience and have singleness (one purpose) in heart. Not pretending to be obedient when we are disobedient, but serving with faithfulness. We should have an eye to Jesus in all the service that we perform. Doing service as to the Lord, and not to men only. To have an eye on Jesus is to remember that He sees us and is present with us. He admonishes us to be faithful and conscientious in doing what He would have us to do. We must not serve our masters with eye service—only when the master’s eye is on us. A steady regard to the Lord will make us faithful and sincere in every thing we do in life. What we do we do cheerfully: doing the will of God from the heart, serving our masters as God wills we should.
