NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER (October 23)
2024 U.S. Presidential and Congressional Elections
In the midst of national crisis and uncertainty, it is essential that we fervently intercede for
the upcoming 2024 U.S. presidential and congressional elections. II Chronicles 7:14 says, “If
my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my
face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin,
and will heal their land.”
A National Day of Prayer for the 2024 U.S. Presidential and Congressional Elections will
occur Wednesday, October 23. Churches are encouraged to join in corporate prayer for these
pivotal elections that will convene Tuesday, November 5, 2024. Following are prayer points
to use as a guide so the Church can pray in unison.
• Pray for those who are candidates in the upcoming presidential and congressional
elections. Intercede that God’s will be done regarding whomever He desires to fill the
open positions of these offices, as well as other vacancies. His Word declares in Psalm
75:7 “But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.”
• Pray that God would allow honorable and righteous men and women to be elected to
the numerous positions available. Proverbs 29:2 says, “When the righteous are in
authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.”
• Pray that voters would look beyond personal biases and to that which most honors
God and represents Biblical values and His interests and desires for this nation.
• Pray that believers in America would genuinely unite around God’s agenda, and not
party affiliation.
• Pray that leaders ultimately elected into positions would allow God’s mighty hand to
guide them to effectively lead America and to be an advocate of God’s purpose and
plan for this country. Petition that God’s wisdom and power would flow through them
and that it would be displayed in their speech and their actions.
• Pray that voters would elect leaders who would execute legislation and laws that
would raise up a standard against the enemy morally, economically, and militarily.
Supplicate that each would advocate and value constitutional rights and religious
liberties. Proverbs 14:34 says, “Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach
to any people.”
• Pray that God would prohibit every effort and proposed legislation that seeks to
remove our acknowledgement of God in our nation. Psalm 33:12 declares, “Blessed is
the nation whose God is the LORD.”
• Pray for healing, revival, restoration, and harvest in America. Intercede that God
would “pour out His Spirit upon all flesh,” and let His shekinah glory be manifested!
